Mumbai: Monsoon has been successful in the country, corporate results have attracted the attention of the US. Markets fell today after global markets as interest rate cuts were expected in the early meeting of the Federal Reserve. Of course, Sensex, Nifty based stocks also rose today amid record gains, foreign funds made big profit-taking sales during the bullish phase. Auto stocks were led by Tata Motors today as local funds expected good results from Tata Motors and expected a reduction in the company's debt. Along with this, power stocks including NTPC, Power Grid Corporation and select Bajaj Finserv, Titan, Tata Steel, Asian Paints remained in the positive zone. Sensex rose 459.43 points in the beginning to close at 81815.27 and closed 99.56 points higher at 81455.40 due to selling in FMCG stocks including ITC, Hindustan Unilever and Sun Pharma, Reliance, Bharti Airtel, Mahindra, UltraTech Cement. Along with this, the Nifty 50 spot also rose by 135.65 points intra-day to close at 24971.75 and finally closed up by 21.20 points at 24857.30.

Funds rallied in auto stocks in anticipation of a big jump in vehicle purchases in the country due to good progress of monsoon. Expecting good results of Tata Motors and reduction in the company's debt, Nomura broking giant has given a buy rating to the company's stock with a target price of Rs 1294. Maruti Suzuki rose Rs 110.70 to Rs 12,874.50, Apollo Tire rose Rs 7.35 to Rs 559.20, Cummins India rose Rs 29.90 to Rs 3808.10, Tube Investment rose Rs 21 to Rs 4165.55, MRF rose Rs 370.90 to Rs 1,39,500. BSE Auto Index closed 318.46 points higher at 59909.78.
Adani NG gains Rs 73 to Rs 1125: Suzlon, JSW NG, NTPC, Power Grid gain
Funds were aggressively buying power-capital goods stocks today. The stock rose Rs 73.15 to Rs 1,125.40 amid reports of Rs 6,000 crore QIP in Adani NG. Suzlon NG rose Rs 3.25 to Rs 68.25, JSW NG rose Rs 23.30 to Rs 715.25, funds were aggressively buying NTPC rose Rs 13.05 to Rs 406.90, Power Grid Corporation rose Rs 7.25 to Rs 349.65, Adani Power rose Rs 12.40 to Rs 729.15. The BSE Power index closed 122.51 points higher at 8320.51. Along with this, among capital goods shares, AIA Engineering rose by Rs 116.60 to Rs 4660.55, Lakshmi Machine Works rose by Rs 213.25 to Rs 15,800, Polycab rose by Rs 92.40 to Rs 6676.40.
HPCL up Rs 15 to Rs 396: BPCL up Rs 11 to Rs 348: IOC, Indraprastha up
Funds were buying oil-gas stocks today amid a declining trend in international crude oil prices and oil refinery, marketing PSU stocks. HPCL rose Rs 14.55 to Rs 395.75, BPCL rose Rs 10.70 to Rs 348.50 after posting a 90 per cent drop in quarterly profit and highlights between Citi's Rs 420 target for the stock and UBS's Rs 445 target, Indian Oil Corporation rose Rs 2.80 to Rs 183, Indraprastha Gas rose Rs 8.30 to Rs 552.40, GAIL rose Rs 1.75 to Rs 233.65, Oil India rose Rs 3.85 to Rs 584.25. The BSE Oil-Gas index closed 234 points higher at 32469.39. In the evening, Brent crude fell 57 cents to $75.30, and New York-Nymex crude fell 51 cents to $75.30.

Bajaj Finserv reported quarterly net profit risen 10 per cent to Rs 2,138 crore and revenue grew 35 per cent, stock rose Rs 33.90 to Rs 1,651.30. Indusind Bank rose Rs 18.15 to Rs 1429.50, HDFC Bank rose Rs 8.55 to Rs 1615.30, Bajaj Finance rose Rs 16.55 to Rs 6829.50, CAMS rose Rs 409.80 to Rs 4692.20, IIFL Securities rose Rs 17.40 to Rs 214.45, Motilal Oswal rose Rs 31.55 to Rs 638.25, Nuvama rose Rs 319.80 to Rs 6344.10.
Consumer stocks rise: CG Consumer up Rs 13 to Rs 446: Dixon Techno up Rs 340 to Rs 11967

CG Consumer rose by Rs 12.85 to Rs 445.80, Dixon Technology rose by Rs 340.70 to Rs 11,966.70, Voltas rose by Rs 25.65 to Rs 1543, Titan Company rose by Rs 56 to Rs 3468.20. VIP Industries rose by Rs 5.10 to Rs 473.05. BSE Consumer Durables index closed at 60675.03, up 690.58 points.
Investor asset-market cap rose by Rs. 89 thousand crores to a new high of Rs. 460.91 lakh crores
Sensex, Nifty surged despite continued profit booking, small, mid cap stocks remained attractive as prices of many stocks rose, taking investor wealth i.e. the total market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies by Rs 89 thousand crore to a new record high of Rs .460.91 lakh crore today.

Foreign Portfolio Investors-FPIs, FIIs sold shares worth Rs 5598.64 crore in cash today. A total of Rs 20,050.50 crore was sold against a total purchase of Rs 14,451.86 crore. While DII-Domestic Institutional Investors made a net purchase of Rs 5665.10 crore in cash today. A total of Rs 13,153.84 crore was sold against a total purchase of Rs 18,718.94 crore.
