Mumbai: The slowdown in global markets has cooled down and the US, Europe, Asia markets continued to rise for the second consecutive day. Nifty again touched the level of 24000 today due to continuous buying by domestic institutional investors, mutual funds against the continuous selling by foreign portfolio investors. When the Sensex again moved towards 80000. After last Friday's Black Friday and Monday's Black Monday, many investors were shocked by the slowdown, stock funds today rallied in automobile, steel-metal, mining, banking-finance, power-capital goods, IT frontline stocks. In the end, the Sensex jumped 874.94 points to close at 79468.01 and the Nifty 50 spot jumped 304.95 points to close at 24297.50.

Cummins India rose by Rs.217.05 to Rs.3737.05, Motherson Sumi rose by Rs.5.60 to Rs.180.90, TVS Motor rose by Rs.79.05 to Rs.2574, Exide rose by Rs.14.60 to Rs.496.30, Bajaj Auto rose by Rs.258.70 to Rs.12,376.10, Mahindra & Mahindra rose by Rs.51.30 to Rs.2682.60, TI India rose by Rs.74 to Rs.4083.25, Balkrishna Industries rose by Rs.57 to Rs.3205.60, Tata Motors rose by Rs.11.60 to Rs.1025.25. BSE Auto index rose by 1039.58 points to close at 56583.23.
Metal index climbs 1046: Coal India, SAIL, Vedanta, JSW Steel, Tata Steel gain
Also in metal – mining stocks, the BSE Metal index jumped 1045.61 points to close at 31401.02 today as funds bought heavily in favour of stocks. Coal India rose by Rs 32.65 to Rs 531.75, SAIL rose by Rs 6.25 to Rs 141.70, Vedanta rose by Rs 18.90 to Rs 432.50, NALCO rose by Rs 6.90 to Rs .45, NMDC rose by Rs 6.90 to Rs .45, NMDC rose by Rs 6.25 to Rs 228.90, JSW Steel rose by Rs 23.05 to Rs 907, Hindalco rose by Rs 14.70 to Rs 624.80, Tata Steel rose by Rs 3.60 to Rs 153.85.

Small, midcap stocks rise: Smallcap index gained 1244 points, Midcap index gained 1200 points
Market sentiment turned positive as funds, players again made aggressive purchases in small, mid cap, cash stocks today. Out of total 4031 stocks traded on BSE, gainers were 2986 and losers were 947. BSE Small Cap index rose 1244.12 points to close at 53278.93 and BSE Mid Cap index rose 1200.28 points to close at 46830.57.

Total sales of Rs 17,409.53 crore were made against purchase of Rs 14,094.77 crore. While DII-Domestic Institutional Investors made a net purchase of Rs 3801.21 crore in cash today. Total sales of Rs 12,269.66 crore were made against purchase of Rs 16,070.87 crore.
Global markets up: Nikkei up 414: European markets surge big: Dow Jones, Nasdaq surge
The global markets registered a strong rise for the second consecutive day today. In the Asia-Pacific countries, Japan's Nikkei 225 index rose by 414.16 points to 35089.62, Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose by 230.52 points to 16877.86. In the European markets in the evening, the German index rose by 212 points, the London Stock Exchange's Futsi 100 index rose by 109 points, and France's CAKE 40 index rose by 111 points. In the American stock markets, the Dow Jones rose by 325 points and the Nasdaq rose by 255 points in the evening futures trading.
