In today's trading session, the domestic markets opened with a decline. Nifty is below 22690 and Sensex is at 74,429. Sensex fell 73 points, while Nifty fell 17 points.
However, midcap stocks have shown weakness and smallcap stocks have shown strength. BSE's midcap index is trading down by 0.09 percent, while Nifty's midcap 100 index is down by 0.07 percent. BSE's smallcap index is trading up by 0.05 percent.
Currently, BSE's 30-share major index Sensex is trading at 74,429.65 with a drop of 73.25 points i.e. 0.10%. On the other hand, NSE's 50-share major index Nifty is trading at 22,687.35 with a drop of 17.35 points i.e. 0.08%.
FMCG, IT, metal, pharma, realty, healthcare and consumer durables stocks saw a decline of 0.07-0.59%. Bank Nifty is trading 0.48 percent up at 48,734.05. While FMCG, IT, metal and PSU bank stocks are trading with gains.
Among the major stocks, Tata Steel, Power Grid, JSW Steel, Nestle India, Titan, Dr. Reddy's, Tata Consumer, Sun Pharma, Wipro and NTPC fell by 0.73-2.38 per cent. On the other hand, among the major stocks, SBI, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, ONGC, IndusInd Bank, Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto rose by 0.33-1.32 per cent.
Midcap stocks SJVN, Alkem Labs, Ajanta Pharma, Madrasan, Biocon and Whirlpool fell 1.66-4.15 per cent, while Emami, Solar Industries, Uno Minda, CG Power, Indian Bank and Scheffler rose 1.62-15.40 per cent.
Among smallcap stocks, Edelweiss, Ahlukont, ISGEC, IRB and FDC fell by 5.59-11.89 per cent. However, among smallcap stocks, Tasty Bite, Suprajit, Avantel, Heritage Foods, Optiemus and ITI rose by 5.66-12.46 per cent.
