Sensex fell 720 points to 79223 over the weekend.

Mumbai: The stormy rise in shares over the weekend came to a halt. The market was jittery today as foreign funds again sold in IT-software services, technology stocks as well as banking-finance frontline stocks. However, prices of small, mid-cap stocks again witnessed a rise today due to aggressive buying in select stocks by funds. Among IT stocks, profit booking was seen in many stocks including Wipro, TCS, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technology, Infosys and among banking stocks, big selling was seen in many stocks including HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India. Sensex fell 720.60 points to 79223.11 and Nifty 50 spot fell 183.90 points to 24004.75. Index-based losses were limited by gains in Tata Motors, Titan, Hindustan Unilever, Nestle India, Reliance Industries, Maruti.

Among banking stocks, HDFC Bank fell by Rs 44 to Rs 1749: Angel fell by Rs 119, Nuvama by Rs 220.

Among banking frontline stocks, BSE Bankex index fell 628.11 points to close at 57927.72 as there was heavy selling by funds today. HDFC Bank fell by Rs 44.05 to Rs 1749.30, ICICI Bank fell by Rs 25.40 to Rs 1265.50, State Bank of India fell by Rs 7.55 to Rs 793.50. Financial services stocks also declined today due to decline in trading volumes in derivatives due to new stringent norms by SEBI in the wake of the Ketan Parekh scam revelations. Angel One fell by Rs 118.95 to Rs 2857.10, IIFL Capital fell by Rs 11.40 to Rs 333.40, Nuvama fell by Rs 219.70 to Rs 7006.95, MCX fell by Rs 182.75 to Rs 6155.85.

Bullish trading in IT stocks easy: Tanla, Wipro, KPIT, Tech Mahindra, TCS fall

Funds controlled bullish trading in IT-software services, technology stocks today. BSE IT index fell 580.31 points to close at 43679.26. Tanla Platform fell by Rs 33.45 to Rs 718.95, Wipro fell by Rs 9.20 to Rs 294.45, Sasken fell by Rs 64.60 to Rs 2139.70, KPIT Technology fell by Rs 35.60 to Rs 1449.35, Tech Mahindra fell by Rs 37.75 to Rs 1689.90, TCS HCL Technology fell by Rs 85 to Rs 4099.25, HCL Technology fell by Rs 24.15 to Rs 1947.25, Persistent fell by Rs 76.30 to Rs 6404.15, Zegal fell by Rs 130.15 to Rs 12,518.85, Oracle Finserv fell by Rs 19.35 to Rs 19.35. 1938.30.

Balakrishnan falls by Rs 79 to Rs 2814: MRF, Apollo Tyres, Bharat Forge fall: Tata Motors rises

A mixed trend was seen in automobile stocks today. Balkrishna Industries fell by Rs 79.05 to Rs 2814.90, Apollo Tires fell by Rs 14.30 to Rs 511.90, MRF fell by Rs 2781.20 to Rs 1,26,420.55, TI India fell by Rs 63.40 to Rs 3610.05, India fell by Rs 21.95 1296.55, Bajaj Auto fell by Rs 106.60 to Rs 8965.90, Hero MotoCorp fell by Rs 67.60 to Rs 4242.95. While the price of Tata Motors increased by Rs 25.45 to Rs 790.40, the price of Uno Minda increased by Rs 14.05 to Rs 1067.80, the price of Sundaram Fasteners increased by Rs 9.85 to Rs 1072.50, the price of Maruti Suzuki increased by Rs 105.90 to Rs 11,943.45.

Blue Star increased by Rs 43 to Rs 2336: Titan increased by Rs 58 to Rs 3449: Whirlpool, Dixon attracted.

Consumer durables stocks remained the fund’s favorite attraction today. Blue Star rose by Rs 43.45 to Rs 2336.55, Titan rose by Rs 57.80 to Rs 3449.20, Whirlpool of India rose by Rs 28.45 to Rs 1872.95, Dixon Technology rose by Rs 66.05 to Rs 18,399.05. The BSE Consumer Durables index closed 296.09 points higher at 26,818.40.

Profit booking in healthcare stocks: Newland Lab falls Rs 504 to Rs 13,788: Ajanta Pharma, Aarti Pharma fall

Funds also booked profits in healthcare-pharmaceuticals companies. Newland Lab fell by Rs 503.80 to Rs 13,788.95, Ajanta Pharma fell by Rs 101.75 to Rs 2871.30, Aarti Pharma fell by Rs 20.90 to Rs 671.05, Metropolis fell by Rs 57.35 to Rs 1992.80, Vimta Lab fell by Rs 24.20 Rs 945.95, Aurobindo Pharma fell by Rs 29.30 to Rs 1319.35.

Crude oil prices stopped: Oil-gas shares of ONGC, Oil India, Reliance gained.

After the increase in international crude oil prices, the rise stopped today and there was a slight decline. Brent crude was near $75.69 and New York-Nymax crude was near $72.93. ONGC’s price increased by Rs 12.75 to Rs 258.75, Oil India’s price increased by Rs 17.45 to Rs 481, Reliance Industries’ price increased by Rs 9.70 to Rs 1251.35. The BSE Oil-Gas index closed 393.28 points higher at 26,818.40.

Sensex, Nifty fall in small, midcap stocks: 2,032 shares closed positive

Market sentiment remained positive as there was selective buying in small, mid cap, cash stocks against losses in Sensex and Nifty based stocks over the weekend. Of the total 4103 shares traded on BSE, the number of gainers was 2032 and the number of decliners was 1965.

The asset-market capitalization of investors in shares fell by Rs 69 thousand crore to Rs 449.78 lakh crore.

As a result of Sensex, Nifty based fall, the total wealth of investors i.e. total market capitalization of BSE listed companies declined by Rs 69 thousand crore in a day to Rs 449.78 lakh crore.

Net sales by FPIs/FIIs Rs.4227 crore in cash: Net purchases by DIIs Rs.821 crore

Foreign portfolio investors – FPI, FII sold shares again, net sale of shares worth Rs 4227.25 crore in cash today. There were sales of Rs 15,040.03 crore against total purchases of Rs 10,812.78 crore. While DII-Domestic Institutional Investors made net purchases of Rs 820.60 crore in cash today. There were sales of Rs 13,512.09 crore against total purchases of Rs 14,332.69 crore.
