Sensex fell 495 points to 81006

Mumbai: The historic Rs 27,870 crore IPO of India's second-largest passenger car maker Hyundai Motor India received over 100 per cent response in an hour on the last day of subscription as subscription surged 2.37 times as liquidity was pulled from the secondary market. On the other hand, Sensex, Nifty-based stocks continued to fall today as uncertainty in Asian markets due to more stimulus in China weighed on sentiment and corporate results. Auto stocks were mixed amid talk of massive selling by funds in auto stocks including Bajaj Auto, especially for Hyundai's IPO allotment. Along with this, there was selling in consumer durables, capital goods, metal-mining, oil-gas frontline shares. Sensex fell 494.75 points to 81006.61 and Nifty 50 spot index fell 221.45 points to 24749.85.

Auto index falls by 2047 points: Bajaj Auto down by Rs 1495, Bosch by Rs 1772, Mahindra down by Rs 102

There was an uproar as Hyundai pulled money from its IPO and invested the funds for the IPO in other auto stocks. Bajaj Auto fell by Rs 1495.25 to Rs 10,122.30, Bosch fell by Rs 1771.90 to Rs 36,459.95, Sundaram fell by Rs 50.20 to Rs 1417.75, Mahindra & Mahindra fell by Rs .40 to Rs 2963. Hero MotoCorp fell by Rs 179.35 to Rs 5218.10, TVS Motor fell by Rs 84.65 to Rs 2683, Maruti Suzuki fell by Rs 229.75 to Rs 12,143.75, Cummins India fell by Rs 104.20 to Rs 3692.05, Apollo Tires fell by Rs 10.75 to Rs 504.55. Consumer Durables Index fell 1511 points: Havells fell by Rs 113, Voltas fell by Rs 48, Titan fell by Rs 69.

Funds also saw huge selling in shares of consumer durables companies today. Havells India fell by Rs 113.20 to Rs 1826.35, Aditya Birla Fashion fell by Rs 12.70 to Rs 331, Titan Company fell by Rs 69 to Rs 3400.15, CG Consumer fell by Rs 7.70 to Rs 414. 85, Dixon Technology fell by Rs 168.35 to Rs 15,141.55. BSE Consumer Durables Index fell 1511.08 points to close at 64685.93.

Good performance of funds attracts IT stocks: Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Mphasis, Latent View increased

After better than expected results of Infosys, funds were buying less in IT-software services, technology stocks today. Infosys increased by Rs 49.60 to Rs 1969.50, Mphasis increased by Rs 169.60 to Rs 3080.30, Latent View increased by Rs 14.20 to Rs 479, Tech Mahindra increased by Rs 12.45 to Rs 1699. Rs.55, KPIT Technology rose by Rs 8 to Rs 415.90, Mastek rose by Rs 45 to Rs 2986, Jeagle Prepaid rose by Rs 6.45 to Rs 438. BSE IT index closed at 43137.54, up 481.41 points.

Profit booking in healthcare stocks: Newland Labs falls by Rs 956: Morpen Labs, Wockhardt, Marksons fall.

Funds booked profits in shares of healthcare-pharmaceutical companies today. Newland Lab fell by Rs 956.40 to Rs 15,352.15, Morpen Lab fell by Rs 4.54 to Rs 86.25, Vijaya Diagnostics fell by Rs 44.05 to Rs 1000.80, Markons Pharma fell by Rs 11.95 to Rs 283.15, Piramal Pharma fell by Rs 8 Rs 224.45, Ajanta Pharma fell Rs 107.70 to Rs 3230, Glenmark Life fell Rs 35.80 to Rs 1130.75. While Dishman Carbogen rose by Rs 7.10 to Rs 195.45, Bliss GVS rose by Rs 3.15 to Rs 131, Pfizer rose by Rs 92.60 to Rs 5787.05, Concord Biotech rose by Rs 29.80 to Rs 2017.05. BSE Healthcare index fell 507.43 points to close at 44146.25.

BHEL falls by Rs 15 to Rs 254: Siemens by Rs 255, Hind. Aeronautics fell by Rs 138, Grindwell fell by Rs 67.

Even in capital goods stocks, profit-booking by funds remained largely subdued today. BHEL fell by Rs 15.50 to Rs 254.05, Siemens fell by Rs 255.05 to Rs 7728, GMR Airports fell by Rs 2.68 to Rs 86.57, Hindustan Aeronautics fell by Rs 90 to Rs 4516.90, Suzlon NG fell by Rs 15.50 to Rs 2436. 2.04 rupees fell to 73.01 Came to Rs.

Selling in FMCG stocks after results: Nestle India, Bajaj Consumer, Dwarkesh Sugar fall.

Shares of FMCG companies including Nestle India traded with gains today after the results. Nestle India's quarterly net profit declined marginally to Rs 899 crore, while shares fell Rs 82.55 to Rs 2,379.70. Parag Milk Food fell by Rs 10.90 to Rs 217.55, Gulshan Poly fell by Rs 11.70 to Rs 211.55, Uttam Sugar fell by Rs 13.05 to Rs 336.60, Colgate Palmolive fell to Rs 129.75. 3365.40, Dwarkesh Sugar fell by Rs 2.59 to Rs 69.36, Bajaj Consumer fell by Rs 8.70 to Rs 227.10.

Axis Bank's profit rises 18 percent: Shares fall: HDFC Bank, Canara Bank down: State Bank up

There was overall selling in banking stocks today. Despite 18 per cent rise in quarterly profit, Axis Bank shares fell by Rs 20.10 to Rs 1132.15, Canara Bank shares fell by Rs 1.80 to Rs 102.50, HDFC Bank shares fell by Rs 26.60 to Rs 1673.35, ICICI Bank shares fell by Rs 10.75. Reliance Industries 1:1 shares 28 October X-Bonus: Shares rise to Rs 2713

Reliance Industries today rose by Rs 5.45 to Rs 2,713.45 after announcing a record date bonus of one share per share on October 28. Bharti Airtel fell by Rs 30.70 to Rs 1702.75, Bajaj Finserv fell by Rs 42.30 to Rs 1815.35, UltraTech Cement fell by Rs 305.75 to Rs 11,018.65.

Cautious profit booking in small, mid cap stocks: Market condition bad: 2754 stocks closed negative

Market breadth again weakened in Sensex, Nifty today due to heavy selling in auto, consumer durables, metal, pharma, banking, oil-gas stocks as investors sold small, mid cap stocks. Of the total 4064 stocks traded on BSE, the number of gainers declined to 1219 from 1995 and the number of decliners increased to 2754 from 1987.

Net purchase of shares by DIIs Rs 4980 crore: Sale of shares by FPI/FII Rs 7421 crore

Foreign portfolio investors – FPIs, FIIs made a net sale of shares worth Rs 7421.40 crore in cash today Thursday. There were sales of Rs 17,142.50 crore against total purchases of Rs 9721.10 crore. Whereas DII-Domestic Institutional Investors made net purchases of Rs 4979.83 crore in cash today. There were total sales of Rs 11,837.18 crore against total purchases of Rs 16,817.01 crore.

The asset-market capitalization of investors in stocks fell by Rs 6.14 lakh crore to Rs 457.25 lakh crore.

Along with the continuous fall in Sensex, Nifty, today the prices of many shares fell due to heavy selling in small and midcap shares, the wealth of investors i.e. the total market capitalization of companies listed in BSE also decreased by Rs 6.14 lakh crore. Rs 457.25 lakh crore in one day.
