Sensex closed up 622 points, IT-techno and banking stocks rose

Stock Market Closing Bell: The Sensex closed 622 points higher and the Nifty 186 points higher at the end of an impressive rally in the stock market. Investors' capital increased by Rs. 1.20 lakh crore. The stock market continues to rise due to the corporate quarterly results season with encouraging results and positive factors at the local and global level.

The Sensex today rose 996.17 points to hit a historic high of 80893.51, indicating that it will soon cross the 81000 level. The Nifty rose 276.25 points to touch a record high of 24592.30 and closed 186.20 points higher at 24502.15.

286 stocks hit upper circuit, market alert

Out of the total 4036 stocks traded on BSE today, 1705 stocks closed in the green zone and 2227 stocks closed in the red zone. While out of 30 stocks of the Sensex pack, 19 closed in favor of improvement and 11 in favor of decline. Which indicates a cautious stance with the market breadth being positive. Upper circuit was applied in 286 stocks, lower circuit in 276 stocks. 285 stocks reached the highest level of the year. The top gainers in the Sensex were TCS 6.5 percent, Wipro 4.75 percent, Infosys 3.39 percent, Tech Mahindra 3.17 percent and HCL Tech 3.08 percent. NTPC, Maruti Suzuki, UltraTech Cement, Kotak Mahindra, Asian Paints and Sun Pharma fell up to 1 percent.
