Sensex closed at record high and 10 indices including Nifty50, Midcap, Auto, Realty also on top

Stock Market Closing Bell: The stock market closed with all time high today. Amid strong possibilities of expected results of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 and signs of improvement in the economic situation, the Sensex today rose by 621.08 points to a record level of 74869.30 and closed at 74742.50 with a recovery of 494.28 points. Nifty 50 rose 183.60 points to 22,700 (record high of 22,697.30). Finally closed at 22666.30 with a jump of 152.60 points.

Market cap Rs. Reached Rs 400.88 lakh crore. Overall the sentiment was positive. Out of 30 shares of Sensex pack, 22 shares closed higher and 8 shares closed lower. 266 shares reached year's high and 12 shares reached year's low.

Among sectoral indices, midcap, auto, telecom, finance, banking stocks are also at all-time high. At the same time, the realty index has also reached the peak of the year. Of the 15 sectoral indices, 12 remained in the green. Oil & Gas and Realty indices closed with a gain of 1 per cent each.

Small cap stocks witnessed huge volatility and profit booking today. Smallcap closed 28.85 points down at 46003.86. Nifty PSU index closed in the red zone due to increase in profit booking in public sector banks also. Apart from this, a decline was also recorded in infra shares.

Positive data released by the US Economy and Labor Department has increased the possibility of interest rate cuts. On the other hand, at the local level too, a positive trend has been seen in the stock market. The season of releasing corporate results for the last quarter of the financial year 2023-24 has also started. Due to which the focus has increased on IT, banking and financial stocks.
