In a major blow to the Congress party in Odisha, senior party leader and two-time former MLA Chiranjib Biswal resigned from the party on Saturday. Biswal has sent his resignation to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Sarath Patnaik.
MLA from Tirtol assembly constituency between 2004 and 2009
While resigning, Chiranjeev Biswal said, I resign from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress. I request you to accept my resignation with immediate effect,” Chiranjib Biswal said in his letter. Chiranjeeb Biswal was MLA from Tirtol assembly constituency between 2004 to 2009 and MLA from Jagatsinghpur from 2014 to 2019.
He was also the leader of the opposition in the state assembly. Chiranjeeb Biswal is likely to join BJD.
