On the occasion of International Day of Senior Citizens and Older Persons, a program was organized by the Government Pensioners Welfare Association on Tuesday to honor and encourage senior citizens. In the program organized under the chairmanship of former Divisional Commissioner RS Verma at Heera Vatika, the Chief Guest appealed to such healthy senior citizens to join the Crime Prevention Committee in the upcoming Maha Kumbh and cooperate with the police administration in controlling the crowd of people who had come to take bath in Mother Ganga. of. During this, he honored 11 senior citizens by giving them citations, shawls and garlands.
While presiding, former Divisional Commissioner RS Verma expected that as per the government order, Grandparents' Day should be celebrated in every school and college on 1st October every year. Action should be taken to pay the pension, gratuity and GPF of retired employees on the day of their retirement itself. He expressed regret that some district officials have stopped it for 5-6 years and no action is being taken on the points raised on Pensioner's Day.
Special guest Umesh Sharma said that the intention of the government order is also that special OPD should be conducted for senior citizens every Wednesday and Saturday from 1 to 2 pm at primary and community centres. Senior citizens should be trained by expert doctors about the symptoms and prevention of diseases like “dementia and Alzheimer’s”.
Before this, Vice President Sudha Prakash welcomed Secretary Santosh Kumar, Chief Guest and senior citizens with Devi Geet.
