Security personnel launched a search operation after suspecting a cross-border tunnel under agricultural land

Jammu, July 5 (HS). Security personnel launched a search operation on Friday in a village near the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district after a man suspected a cross-border tunnel under his agricultural land. BSF personnel along with local police are digging at the spot to find out whether the tunnel exists or not.

The official said a farmer in Thangli village in the Hiranagar belt noticed that water going to his field was flowing into a small ditch and suspected it could be a cross-border tunnel. The villager informed the police and the BSF, who rushed to the spot with bulldozers and carried out extensive digging but found nothing.

Villagers told reporters at the spot that they were still searching as the farm was just 500 metres from the border.

Two years ago, a drone was shot down in the same area carrying a consignment of seven sticky bombs and other material. The farmer further said that there was also a borewell at the same place which might have collapsed, causing water to flow into it.
