News India Live, Digital Desk: On Sunday, officials said two bridges collapsed in western Russia due to the blasts and two trains derailed, although they did not explain the cause of the blasts. One of these incidents killed seven people and dozens of people were injured.

In Brainsk region on the border of UkraineThe Hala Bridge fell on a passenger train on Saturday, causing many casualties. Government Russian Railways said that the driver of the train is also among those who died.

A few hours later, officials reported that in the nearby Kursk area, which is also bordering Ukraine, another train also derailed when the bridge below it collapsed.

Local acting governor Alexander Khinshten said on Sunday that a freight train derailed in the accident and fell on the road, while the bridge collapsed due to the explosion. He said that the fire broke out due to the accident, but there were no casualties.

Russia’s inquiry committee, which is the top criminal investigative agency in the country, said in a statement that two bridges collapsed due to blasts, but it did not give more details. Several hours later, he removed the words “blast” by editing the statement posted on social media, but did not give any clarification.

The committee said that it would investigate these incidents as a possible terrorist act.

Rescuers removed debris from both places, while some injured were taken to Moscow for treatment. In the photographs posted by government agencies in the Branca, the train coaches were seen lying between the broken and collapsed bridge. Other footage on social media was obviously taken from inside vehicles running on the road, which managed to avoid the bridge before the bridge collapsed.
