SEBI chief Madhabi Puri Buch: The meeting of Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has been adjourned due to the absence of SEBI chief Madhabi Puri Buch. PAC chief KC Venugopal informed that today's meeting of the committee has been postponed due to the absence of Madhabi Puri Buch. Butch himself informed that he would not be able to reach Delhi due to personal reasons.

Madhabi Puri Butch was absent

In the first meeting of the PAC, it was decided that we will first review the regulatory bodies. Under which the SEBI chief was called for review in the meeting held today. Venugopal said that the SEBI chief had sought permission to participate in the committee's review. But we rejected it. Later it was confirmed that he would appear before the committee. Today at 9.30 the SEBI chief and other SEBI members informed us that due to personal reasons he will not be able to go to Delhi.

Allegations made by BJP

NDA MPs approached the Lok Sabha Speaker to complain about the PAC Chairman and said that KC Venugopal intends to break the financial structure of the country. In this regard, Nishikant Dubey had written a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker some time ago saying that PAC has no right to call Madhabi Butch.

According to BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, each standing committee reviews the regulatory committee related to that department. But the PAC chairman himself took the decision and called SEBI chief Madhabi Buch, how did he take this decision? The job of PAC is to consider the CAG report. According to sources, CAG has not given any information about SEBI in its report. The entire investigation was unparliamentary, painful and all members were unhappy.

What is on the agenda of the meeting?

The agenda of the meeting included oral evidence from representatives of the Finance Ministry and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) as part of the committee's decision to review the functioning of regulatory bodies established by an Act of Parliament.

Why is NDA angry?

There was no opposition to the Committee's decision to include on the agenda the review of the performance of regulatory bodies established by law. However, Venugopal's move to call Butch angered members of the ruling party as she was at the center of a political controversy over Hindenburg's allegations against the American institution.
