New Delhi. In the last week of September, a relief news has emerged for school students and teachers. Due to festivals, regional events, heavy monsoon rains and regular weekend holidays, schools in many major states of the country are going to remain closed for three consecutive days on September 25 (Friday), September 26 (fourth Saturday) and September 27 (Sunday). While holidays have been declared in many parts of Maharashtra, Telangana and Gujarat on the occasion of Ganesh Visarjan and Anant Chaturdashi, schools will remain closed in the north-eastern state of Sikkim in view of the traditional festival and heavy rain alert in the coastal states.
It is like a mini vacation for parents and students. However, there is variation in the orders issued by education departments and district administrations of different states. Let us know in which states schools will remain completely closed from 25th to 27th September and what are the main reasons behind this.
On September 25 (Friday), a holiday has been declared in schools in view of special circumstances and festivals in many states of the country:

Maharashtra (Maharashtra – Ganesh Visarjan/Anant Chaturdashi): Maharashtra government has declared a special holiday for government and private schools in the entire state, keeping in mind the huge immersion processions and security arrangements on the concluding day of Ganeshotsav i.e. Anant Chaturdashi. In cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Thane, schools will remain closed due to heavy crowd and traffic diversion.

Sikkim (Sikkim – Indra Jatra): Traditional on 25 September in the north-eastern state of Sikkim Indra Jatra Festival There is a statewide public holiday on the occasion. As per the calendar of the state government, all educational institutions will remain completely closed on this day.

Telangana & Andhra Pradesh (Telangana & AP – immersion & weather alerts): School holiday has been declared in many districts of Telangana including Hyderabad due to Vinayak immersion (Ganesh immersion). Apart from this, in view of the heavy rains in some coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha due to the deep depression formed in the Bay of Bengal, the District Magistrates have directed to keep the schools closed as a precautionary measure.

Gujarat and Bihar (selected districts): There is a local holiday on Anant Chaturdashi in many schools of Vadodara, Surat and Ahmedabad of Gujarat.
After the September 25 holiday, the next two days will be regular weekend holidays in most schools across the country:

26 September (4th Saturday): Most of the Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), Navodaya Vidyalayas, CBSE/ICSE affiliated private schools and government institutions in the country remain closed on the fourth Saturday of the month. Only in schools where 6-day week is implemented, normal classes will be held on Saturdays.

27 September (Sunday): Due to weekly holidays across the country, all government, aided and private schools, colleges and universities will remain completely closed.
The biggest advantage of this joint calendar Maharashtra, Sikkim and Telangana Where the official holiday of celebration is on Friday (25th September) and the weekend immediately following it is on 26th and 27th September. Thus, students in these states are getting 3 consecutive days of uninterrupted leave.
There is no general statewide gazetted holiday on September 25 in northern states like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Most of the schools in these states will open normally on September 25, while they will remain closed on September 26 (as per the fourth Saturday policy) and September 27 (Sunday).
Although state governments have issued general notifications, there may be slight changes in holidays depending on the local conditions, schedule of half-yearly exams and rules of private school management.
Parents are advised to verify the order from the official WhatsApp group sent by their child’s school, school diary or the order of the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA)/District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) of the concerned district to avoid any confusion.
