Janmashtami holiday: Long weekend again on Janmashtami
This year, the holy festival of Krishna Janmotsav or Janmashtami will be celebrated on 26th August. As 26th August is Monday, it has become a long weekend for school-college going children as well as office goers. Actually, most of the schools-colleges and offices have holidays on Saturday-Sunday. Those whose weekend is of two days i.e. Saturday-Sunday, have got 3 consecutive days off by getting a holiday on Monday as well.

UP Police Constable Recruitment Exam is being conducted in Uttar Pradesh. This exam will be held between 23 to 31 August. More than 46 lakh candidates have applied for recruitment to 60244 vacant posts of constable in UP Police. 1174 centers have been set up for UP Police Recruitment Exam. In the 67 districts of Uttar Pradesh where schools have been made examination centers, children have been declared holiday for 5 days. 81 schools are closed in Lucknow alone.
