SBI Alert: If you have a bank account in the country's largest government bank, State Bank of India (SBI), then be alert immediately. The government has warned crores of bank customers.
It has been said to be cautious of fake messages coming in the name of SBI. In such a situation, if you are even a little careless, then you can suffer huge losses, PIB Fact Check has asked SBI customers to be cautious of fake messages trending on social media.
The government has issued an alert for crores of account holders. The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has alerted about a message being circulated on social media, so if you are an SBI customer, a small mistake can cost you dearly due to the ever-increasing number of spam and fraud. In view of the cases, an alert has been issued for the customers. Actually, cyber criminals are making people victims of fraud in new ways. In recent times, a new method of reward point scam has come to light. Customers have been asked to be careful in this regard.
Customers can be cheated in the name of reward points
The message issued by PIB said that beware of messages coming in the name of State Bank of India. It asks customers to download an APK file to redeem reward points. It seems that this message has been sent by SBI but this message is completely fake. SBI never sends links or APK files through SMS or WhatsApp. In such a situation, do not download unknown files or click on suspicious links to avoid fraud. Always verify any such message through official SBI channels.
PIB advises customers
PIB said that it is very important to verify any message. Do this by contacting through the official phone number. Do not share your bank's confidential information with anyone. If you are aware, you can avoid becoming a victim of financial fraud.
Keep these things in mind to avoid fraud
1- If you receive a message, find out who sent it. Make sure to verify it through the official channel of the bank.
2- Never click on the link in the message received from unknown numbers. Do not download any file given in it.
3- If any suspicious message comes in the name of the bank, then contact the bank through official means and confirm it.
4 – Make payments and other transactions only through the official app or website.
5 – Never give out personal or financial information via email, SMS, WhatsApp or phone.
