Say goodbye to expensive beauty products: Make pure Vitamin C serum at home with only 4 things, your face will get a natural glow.

Vitamin C serum has become an essential beauty product for those who want beautiful, flawless and glowing skin. Dermatologists consider it to be the most powerful antioxidant for the skin. In big cities like Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, skin starts losing its glow rapidly due to pollution, dust and ultraviolet rays. In such a situation, Vitamin C serum helps in reducing dark spots, pigmentation, melasma and signs of aging by fighting free radicals. However, branded Vitamin C serums available in the market are quite expensive. Additionally, vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) oxidizes very quickly when exposed to air and sunlight. This is the reason why many times serums purchased from the market start turning yellow or brown within a few weeks and lose their effectiveness. In such a situation, making fresh and chemical-free serum at home is not only economical but also proves to be safer and effective.

To prepare an effective and stable vitamin C serum at home, you need only four pure ingredients, which are easily available at any medical store or organic shop:

  • L-Ascorbic Acid Powder (Vitamin C Powder) – ½ tsp: This is the purest and active form of Vitamin C, which absorbs deeply into the skin and accelerates collagen production.

  • Pure rose water or distilled water – 2 tbsp: It provides a calming and soothing liquid base for the serum, which keeps the skin’s pH level balanced.

  • Vegetable Glycerine – 1 tsp: Glycerine is a great humectant, drawing moisture from the air and locking it into the skin, giving the serum a smooth, non-sticky texture.

  • Vitamin E Oil (1 Capsule): Vitamin E itself is a great antioxidant, which doubles the effect of vitamin C and keeps the serum from spoiling quickly.

Take a clean and completely dry glass bowl. Add two tablespoons of pure rose water or distilled water to it. Now add half teaspoon L-ascorbic acid powder to it. With the help of a clean spoon, stir the mixture until the fine particles of Vitamin C dissolve completely in the water. Keep in mind that there are no grains left in the bowl, so that it does not feel rough while applying it on the face.

When the powder dissolves completely, add one spoon vegetable glycerine to it. After this, pierce a Vitamin E capsule with a pin and squeeze its oil into this mixture. Now beat everything well for 2 minutes so that a uniform and transparent serum is prepared. Fill this prepared serum in a dark amber (black or dark brown) glass bottle with a dropper. Close the vial tightly and keep it in a cool place or refrigerator away from sunlight.

To get the maximum benefit from the serum, it is important to use it correctly. Before sleeping at night, wash your face with a gentle face wash and dry it lightly with a towel. With the help of a dropper, take only 3 to 4 drops of the serum on your fingers and apply it on the entire face and neck by gently patting (dabbing). Do not rub the serum vigorously on the face, rather let the skin absorb it naturally.

After 2 to 3 minutes of applying the serum, apply a good lightweight moisturizer according to your skin so that the serum can be locked into the skin. If you use this serum during the day, it is absolutely essential to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or 50 over it, as the skin becomes sensitive to sunlight after applying vitamin C.

Vitamin C is a very sensitive compound which starts losing its effectiveness when exposed to light and heat. Therefore, always keep this homemade serum in a dark colored glass bottle and close the lid tightly immediately after use. This homemade serum does not contain any artificial preservatives, so make it only for 10 to 15 days of use at a time. Prepare a fresh batch again after 15 days. If the serum begins to turn light yellow, orange, or brown in color, it means it has been oxidized; In such a situation, stop using it immediately.

Before using it for the first time, do a patch test on your elbow or behind your ear. Apply it on the face only if there is no redness, itching or irritation within 24 hours. People with sensitive skin can keep the amount of Vitamin C powder slightly less in the beginning.
