Sawan, the most favorite month of worship of Lord Shiva, has started. Along with this, devotees have started gathering in major Shiva temples across the country and Kanwar Yatra, a symbol of faith of crores of devotees, has also officially started.
Administrations of many states including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi and Haryana have made special arrangements for the safety, health and easy darshan of Kanwariyas and devotees. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also wished all Shiv devotees on the occasion of Sawan and Kanwar Yatra through social media.
New arrangements for darshan in major Jyotirlingas of the country
1. Kashi Vishwanath (Varanasi): Complete ban on VIP and Sparsh Darshan.
In view of the unprecedented crowd that gathered at Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi during Sawan, the temple administration has taken a big decision.

Similar arrangements: There will be a complete ban on VIP darshan and sparsh darshan during the entire month of Sawan.

7 new entry gates: To manage the queues of devotees and reduce crowd pressure, 7 new entry gates are being built in the temple complex.
2. Omkareshwar (Madhya Pradesh): VIP pass with family to those who donate blood.
Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga Temple Administration of Madhya Pradesh has started a unique and commendable initiative:

Incentive on blood donation: Devotees who donate blood to overcome the shortage of blood in local hospitals will be given the facility of VIP darshan along with their families. The aim of this initiative is also to increase awareness about blood donation in the society.
3. Mahakal Temple (Ujjain) and Baba Baidyanath (Devghar)

Ujjain Mahakal: Additional barricading, drinking water, health camps and heavy police force have been deployed in the temple premises.

Deoghar Shravani Fair: Help desks, medical centers and 24-hour control rooms have been set up on the Kanwar Path for the world famous ‘Shravani Mela’ at Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar, Jharkhand.
Tight security circle and route diversion in Uttarakhand and Western UP
Arrangements have been made at several levels for the safety of the Kanwariyas returning with the holy Ganga water from Haridwar, Rishikesh, Gangotri and Gaumukh:

Traffic Diversion: No-entry of heavy vehicles has been implemented in Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Baghpat and Saharanpur including Delhi-Haridwar National Highway.

CCTV and drone surveillance: Har ki Pauri and major ghats of Haridwar are being monitored with additional police force as well as drone cameras.

Health Services: Mobile medical units, ambulances, rest camps and drinking water centers have been set up along the entire Kanwar route.
Jalabhishek will be held on Sawan Shivratri on 11th August.
This year, Kanwar Yatra will start from 30th July and will reach its peak on the auspicious occasion of Sawan Shivratri on 11th August 2026. On this day, crores of Shiva devotees across the country will perform Jalabhishek by offering Ganga water brought from Haridwar and other holy rivers to Lord Bholenath in their local Shiva temples.
