Kathmandu, 06 September (HS). The investigation report of the crash of Saurya Airlines plane on 24 July at Tribhuvan International Airport of Kathmandu has been revealed. The investigation committee has submitted its preliminary report to the government. The report has given three possible reasons behind the accident. These include the balance of the load of baggage in the cargo not being according to the flight rules, the take-off speed of the plane not being balanced and ignoring the rules during take-off.
The Saurya Airlines plane crashed on July 24, seconds after taking off from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Apart from a pilot, 18 employees of the airline company were killed in the plane which was on its way to Pokhara for a routine C check. The government had constituted a committee headed by former Director General of Civil Aviation Authority Ratish Chandra Lal to investigate the accident.
In its preliminary report submitted to the government, this committee has given three possible reasons behind this accident. According to the report, the first reason is not paying attention to the load of the plane. Lal said that the investigation has found that the balance of the load of the passengers sitting in the plane and the baggage in its cargo was not according to the flight rules. The investigation report also mentions that the Civil Aviation Authority and the airlines flying the plane should pay special attention to the fact that there should be mandatory checking of the load of the plane before the flight.
The second possible reason for the accident is the lack of balance in the take-off speed of the aircraft according to the load of the aircraft. Lal said that the reason for the accident could be the failure to maintain the speed of the aircraft according to the load of Saurya Airlines on the day of the accident. He said that the speed of the aircraft on the runway was not balanced according to its load. Due to the lack of load balance, the speed limit from the parking to the apron and then to the taxiway and the runway was not appropriate. The third reason for this accident is said to be not following all the rules of flying and ignoring the rules during take-off. The speed of the aircraft should have been limited according to the load of the aircraft, but the take-off speed of the crashed aircraft and not getting the rotating angle accordingly has also been said to be a reason for the accident.
The report states that according to the flight recording data, the crashed Saurya Airlines plane was at a height of 50 feet in the first 5 seconds of take-off and reached a height of 100 feet in 10 seconds. According to the CCTV cameras installed at Kathmandu airport and the plane's black box data, the plane lost balance and fell down in just 29 seconds. The investigation report also states that the pilot rotated the flight in just 21 seconds and the flight crashed in the 29th second.
