Sarvapitri Amavasya 2026: Donating these 7 things is sure to get relief from Pitra Dosh.

In Sanatan Dharma and Vedic Astrology, this entire fortnight of Pitru Paksha is dedicated to our ancestors, where we remember our ancestors and offer them Tarpan and Pind Daan. The most sacred and last date on which this special fortnight ends is known as Sarva Pitru Amavasya or Mahalaya Amavasya (Sarva Pitru Amavasya 2026). This year, on the auspicious occasion of Sarvapitri Amavasya, the importance of charity has increased manifold, because on this day, worship and rituals are performed for the peace of the souls of all the forgotten ancestors. Well-known astrologers and experts say that if some special things are donated as per rituals on this day, then not only one gets freedom from Pitru Dosh, but with the blessings of the ancestors, happiness, peace and prosperity reside permanently in the house. If there are constant obstacles in your life or there are obstacles in your work, then donating these seven special things including black sesame seeds on the day of Sarvapitri Amavasya will prove to be no less than a boon for you.

According to the Hindu calendar, the Amavasya date of Ashwin month is called Sarvapitri Amavasya, and it is the day when our ancestors return to their world from the world of death. It is believed that if a person has not been able to offer Tarpan or Pind Daan to his ancestors for the entire 15 days i.e. during Shraddha Paksha, then he can please all his ancestors by performing Shraddha rituals only on this one date i.e. on the day of Sarvapitri Amavasya. In astrology, it is believed that when the ancestors are angry or are not satisfied, then Pitra Dosh occurs in the horoscope of the person due to which he has to face many problems related to career, marriage, children and health. By doing charity on this day, the ancestors get satisfaction and by giving blessings they fill the lives of their descendants with happiness, due to which the sleeping fortune of the person also awakens.

According to astrological rules, on the day of Sarvapitri Amavasya, ancestors become extremely happy by donating some special items as per their capacity. Let us know about those 7 things which must be donated on this day:

  1. Black Sesame: Black sesame is considered to be the favorite of Lord Vishnu and Yamraj, and its donation removes negative energy and pacifies Pitra Dosh.

  2. Donating Food Grains: By donating rice, wheat or flour, there is never a shortage of food in the house and by feeding the hungry, the ancestors get direct satisfaction.

  3. Donating Clothes: By donating clothes (especially dhoti, kurta or warm clothes) to the poor and needy, the ancestors get clothes in the next world and get their blessings.

  4. Donating Fruits: Donating seasonal fruits brings positivity in life and removes health related problems.

  5. Water pot: Donating an earthen pot or pitcher filled with water on the day of Amavasya quenches the thirst of the ancestors.

  6. Donation of Footwear: Donating shoes or slippers to a needy person removes obstacles from the path of ancestors and makes the life of the person smooth.

  7. Dakshina or Secret Donation (Money/Dakshina): By donating coins or currency to a worthy Brahmin as per your devotion, you get the full results of the donation.

On the day of Sarvapitri Amavasya, wake up early in the morning, take bath etc. and wear clean clothes, after which offer tarpan in the name of your ancestors in the north-east corner of your house or on the banks of the holy river. Light a mustard oil lamp under the Peepal tree and remember your ancestors by putting some black sesame seeds in it. After this, feed food to Brahmins or the needy with your own hands and donate the seven things mentioned above respectfully. Keep in mind that charity should always be done with a virtuous heart and without any pride, only then its real spiritual virtue is achieved. If you complete this ritual of Sarvapitri Amavasya with full devotion and rules, then all the troubles of your life will go away and with the immense grace of your ancestors, there will always be happiness and prosperity in your home and family.
