Rajkot, 15 February (Hindustan Reporter). Sarfaraz Khan on Thursday registered his name in history by scoring the joint second fastest half-century for India in his very first Test match. Sarfaraz completed his maiden Test half-century in 48 balls against England in the third Test match at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium here.
With this half-century, he became the joint second Indian batsman along with Hardik Pandya to score the fastest half-century in his Test debut. Hardik completed his half-century in 48 balls in his debut match against Sri Lanka in 2017. Sarfaraz and Pandya are behind former Indian cricketer Yadvendra Singh (Yuvraj of Patiala), who scored a half-century in 42 balls in his first and last Test in 1934.
However, Sarfaraz was unfortunately run out after scoring 62 runs. Sarfaraz hit nine fours and one six in his innings.
At the end of the first day's play, India scored a huge score of 326 runs for 5 wickets thanks to centuries from Jadeja (110 not out) and Rohit Sharma (131).
