Sardar Sarovar Dam: The Sardar Sarovar dam is on high alert mode due to the inflow of water from the upstream of the Narmada dam as the level reached 135.88 metres on Monday. At 3 pm, the water level of the Narmada dam was 135.81 metres. At 6 pm, it reached 135.88 metres.
The dam surface is rising by two to three cm every hour. With an inflow of 2,93,389 cusecs from upstream, the Narmada Dam has a water storage volume of 3840.63 million cubic metres.
The 9 sluices of the Narmada dam are still releasing 1,35,000 cusecs of water into the Narmada river from a 2.1 meter open sluice, while all the 6 turbines of Godbole and RBPH are running 45 thousand cusecs of water into the river, making the total outflow of water into the Narmada river 1,79,444 cusecs. The result was that the level of the Narmada river at the Golden Bridge of Bharuch reached 13.12 feet at 11 am.
At 3 pm, it reached 11.04 feet. The Narmada dam is currently 90.51 percent full. The Vadodara, Narmada and Bharuch district administrations are on alert and keeping an eye on the coastal villages. The Narmada dam is still 2.87 meters away from crossing its highest level of 138.68.
Citizens have been asked to remain alert and take necessary safety measures to avoid any accident or loss of life and property in the downstream areas of the Sardar Sarovar Dam.
The affected villages include Sisodra, Bhadam, Mangrol, Guwar, Rampura, Rajpipla, Ori, Navapura, Dhamanacha, Dhanpor, Bhacharwada, Hazarpura, Shehrao, Varachha, Poicha, Rundh village of Nandod taluk and Sanjaroli, Ankeshwar, Surajwad, Gora, Garudeshwar. Citizens of Gambhirpura, Vansala of Garudeshwar taluk as well as Vasan, Tilakwada, Wadia, Veerpur, Rengan villages of Tilakwada taluk have been appealed to remain alert.
