New Delhi, 24 February (HS). Saint Ravidas Jayanti is being celebrated with full pomp and devotion in the country today (Saturday). President Draupadi Murmu congratulated the people on this occasion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated his statue on the eve of his birth anniversary. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has paid tribute to Sant Ravidas on his birth anniversary.
President Murmu, in his message on the eve of the 647th birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas, said, “Sant Ravidas was a symbol of spiritual knowledge. He dedicated his life to the service of humanity with faith and devotion.” Press Information Bureau (PIB) has released the President's message.
The President said, “I extend my hearty greetings and good wishes to all the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Guru Ravidasji. He fought for the abolition of caste-based and social discrimination. Guru Ravidasji tried to bring harmony in the society by following devotional practices. He spread the message of peace, tolerance and brotherhood in the society. The President called upon the citizens to adopt the teachings of Sant Ravidas in their lives.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly installed statue of Sant Ravidas at Seer Govardhanpur in Varanasi on the eve of Sant Ravidas Jayanti. Also laid the foundation stone for the beautification of Sant Ravidas Museum and Park. Recalling the virtues of Saint Ravidas, the Prime Minister said that the teachings of Saint Ravidas have always guided him. Saint Ravidas re-energized the divided and fragmented India. He said, “Saint Ravidas cannot be tied to the ideologies of religion and belief.”
BJP remembered the virtue of Sant Ravidas on its ax handle this morning. BJP said, “We pay our respects to the great yogi of the saint tradition and the most knowledgeable saint, Shiromani Guru Ravidas ji, on his birth anniversary.”
