Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia did not get relief from court in liquor scam, judicial custody increased again

New Delhi: Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia did not get relief from Delhi Court. On Thursday, Delhi Court extended the judicial custody of both till March 19. Earlier, after appearing in the court on March 02, the judicial custody was extended till March 7.

Both were produced in a Delhi court on Thursday, upon which Special Judge MK Nagpal extended the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh. Let us tell you that while demanding extension of judicial custody, ED had said that the case is in a delicate phase and if released, the accused can hinder the investigation.

The accused are adopting tactics

It is noteworthy that ED on Thursday filed a petition in a Delhi court alleging that the accused are adopting tactics to delay the action in the money laundering case related to the alleged liquor scam. The ED said this while opposing the accused's application seeking a copy of the CCTV footage, including audio and video recordings, of the interrogation proceedings during the custodial period.

The agency said that the accused were asking for footage without giving any concrete reason, which is not acceptable at the present stage of the case. Advocate Nitish Rana, appearing for one of the accused, opposed the ED's stand. He alleged that the ED wants to abandon the investigation process of the case with its frivolous application.

The arrest took place last year

Manish Sisodia was arrested by CBI on 26 February 2023 in the alleged Delhi liquor scam case. After this, ED also arrested Sisodia in a money laundering case related to liquor policy. Whereas Sanjay Singh was arrested by ED last year.
