New Delhi, 1 October (Hindustan Reporter). Sandeep Pradhan will step down as Director General of Sports Authority of India (SAI) upon completion of his tenure and Sports Secretary Sujata Chaturvedi will take over his role on an interim basis. The Sports Ministry made the above announcement on Tuesday.
As per the official order of the Sports Ministry, “Consequent to the completion of the Central deputation tenure of Sandeep M. Pradhan for the post of Director General, Sports Authority of India (SAI) on 30.09.2024, the competent authority has appointed Smt. Sujatha Chaturvedi, Secretary (Sports) Approval has been given to hand over the additional charge of the post of Director General of Sports Authority of India (SAI). Chaturvedi will continue to hold the post from 01.07.2019 to 01.10.2024, and till the appointment of the regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”
Pradhan, a 1990 batch Indian Revenue officer, took over as Director General from Neelam Kapoor in August 2019, under whom India witnessed two successful Olympic and Paralympic cycles in Tokyo and Paris respectively.
At the 2020 Olympics, India won its first gold medal in track-and-field through Neeraj Chopra in the men's javelin throw, while the country recorded its best performance at the Games with seven medals.
