Dehradun/Kashipur, 7 October (HIST). Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd) inaugurated the Uttarakhand Cell on Monday. On this occasion, he said that this cell will work as a 'think tank' and bridge for the state and IIM Kashipur.

The Governor said that just as Guru Dronacharya had chosen Kashipur for education, in the same way the Government of India has established IIM Kashipur to impart knowledge in the field of management of this sacred land. This institute has continuously climbed the ladder of success during the last thirteen years. He said that this is the right time for this institute, which has made a place in the top 20 institutes of the country, to make a significant contribution to the development of Uttarakhand. Today will be a memorable day for our state, when this great campaign is starting with the establishment of 'Uttarakhand Cell'.

The Governor said that this cell will be a bridge between the state and the institute. It will contribute to managerial excellence, which will complement the bridge. This cell will coordinate and harmonize the Government of Uttarakhand with the professors, centers of excellence and other resources of various specialized areas of the institute.

The Governor said that like the trident of Lord Shiva, the contribution of three sectors is essential in the economic development of Uttarakhand. These three areas are tourism, agriculture, horticulture and technology. In this project, an MoU has been prepared for three major universities of the state to work with IIM Kashipur for development work in three areas.

The Governor said that IIM Kashipur will work with Kumaon University for spiritual tourism, GB Pant University for horticulture and Uttarakhand Technical University for technology. In these three areas, a plan will be prepared for the overall development of the state and for implementation, authorized departments, institutions and ministries of the state government will be involved as per the rules of Uttarakhand Administration. This ambitious plan is an important step to bring a change in the thinking of the people of the state. He said that I am confident that the educational institutions and industries of the state will work together in this direction and contribute to the inclusive development of the state.

In the program, Vice Chancellor Kumaon University Prof. Diwan Singh Rawat, Vice Chancellor Uttarakhand Technical University Prof. Omkar Singh, Vice Chancellor GB Pant University Prof. On behalf of Manmohan Singh Chauhan, MoU was signed with Director-in-charge, IIM Prof. Somnath Chakraborty. After this, the three Vice Chancellors also expressed their views and expressed gratitude to the Governor/Chancellor.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Uttarakhand Technical University Prof. Onkar Singh, Vice Chancellor Kumaon University Diwan Singh Rawat, Vice Chancellor Govind Ballabh Pant Agriculture and Technological University Pantnagar Prof. MS Chauhan, Board Member Sandeep Singh, NK Mishra, Director IIM Kashipur Somnath Chakraborty, ADM Ashok Kumar Joshi, Additional Superintendent of Police Abhay Kumar Singh, SDM Abhay Pratap Singh, Gaurav Chatwal and teachers and students were present.
