Mumbai – The Trust of Saidham Temple in Kandivali East has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court to take legal action against those defaming and defaming Sai Baba by claiming that Sai Baba was a Brahmin and not a Muslim.
The chief trustee of the trust, Ramesh Joshi, has accused Madhya Pradesh Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati of calling Sai Baba a Muslim and thereby hurting the faith and sentiments of his followers.
The petition states that Shri Sai Satcharitra, written in Marathi and published by Govind Raghunath Dabholkar, Sri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust, Shirdi, is revered as a holy book by Sai devotees. The book clearly states that no one has any evidence to show that Sai Baba, born in Pathri village, was a Muslim, as Sai Baba was a Hindu (Brahmin), so there is no such evidence. The petition states that in his childhood, his parents handed him over to a Muslim fakir.
Saraswati and his devotees have made several derogatory and derogatory statements. The petition alleged that they said that Sai Baba is not a saint or God and when Muslims do not believe in him then why do Hindus believe in him.
According to the petitioner, the Shirdi-based trust should have taken strict legal action against Saraswati, they did nothing, due to which we were left with no option but to go to court.
The state and central governments have failed to publish the statements of Saraswati and devotees about Sai Baba, let alone stop them.
The trust also said it came to know through the media that Saraswati has decided to form a committee to remove idols of Sai Baba from Hindu temples in India, the petitioner said, adding that any such action would worsen the law and order situation.
Apart from directing the media to stop publishing defamatory news, the petition also demands direction to the Center and the states to take action in this regard.
