Jammu, June 7 (HS). On Friday, Sahitya Akademi New Delhi organized two back to back programmes at Writers Club Jammu. The programmes were “Mere Jharokhe Se” and “Aasmita”. “Through My Window” is designed in such a way that an eminent writer of the region tells about other eminent writers who have left behind their immortal, unforgettable literary work. The book was dedicated to Sahitya Akademi Award winner eminent poet late Mohan Lal Sapolia.
Dr. Gyan Singh spoke about Mohan Lal Sapolia in detail with deep concern and enthusiasm with his own, unique and original approach. The lecture was appreciated by all present in the hall. “Asmita”, a program is designed in such a way that women writers are given a platform to express their literary excellence. Prominent women writers are invited to read their masterpiece poetry or stories. This “Asmita” was dedicated to poetry. All the five participants recited their best poetry and mesmerized the audience. The participants were Sarita Khajuria, Sushma Rani Rajput, Nirmal Vikram Jain, Vijaya Thakur and Usha Kiran Kiran.
Mohan Singh, Convener Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, presided over both the programmes and explained the schemes of Sahitya Akademi in detail. He informed that Sahitya Akademi is working for the development of Indian literature of 24 languages and Dogri language literature is one of them. He further said that there are many schemes for the promotion of youth and women. Therefore, they should come forward to avail the opportunities.
