Sagar: Women gave the message of water conservation and promotion by taking out Kalash Yatra

Sagar, June 09 (HS). As part of the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan being run by the government in the state till June 16, the women councilors and women of the Municipal Corporation took out a Kalash Yatra on Sunday and gave the message of water conservation and promotion to the citizens. The Kalash Yatra of women, which started from Pandit Motilal Nehru School Katra Bazaar, reached Chakraghat via Teen Batti, Kotwali, where the Yatra concluded after the women took an oath to conserve and promote water at the ghat of the lake.

In the Kalash Yatra, the women councillors of the corporation and women gave the message to the people through the Kalash Yatra that our ancestors understood that life is not possible without water, so they protected the ancient water sources like rivers, ponds, wells and stepwells and kept their water potable all the time by cleaning them from time to time, but due to modernization, we have forgotten the importance of these ancient water sources and made them useless, so that our future generations do not suffer the consequences of the mistake we have made. We should all come forward to protect these ancient water sources and structures and clean their water so that their water can be reused.

Before the start of the Kalash Yatra, Corporation Commissioner Rajkumar Khatri introduced the objectives of the Kalash Yatra to the women involved in it, and said that through this Kalash Yatra, people are to be made aware about the conservation and promotion of old water sources, which is the biggest need of the present time because due to lack of attention towards our ancient water sources, they have become useless, hence to make them useful, their conservation and cleaning is necessary, so that we can reuse their water.

In ancient times, rivers, wells, stepwells, ponds were the main sources of water for people which were available for water supply 24 hours a day for 12 months, but due to modernity we stopped paying attention to them, so the government has started a campaign to conserve and promote water structures to reuse them, in which we should pledge that we will conserve ancient water sources and inspire others to conserve them too. A large number of women including councilors Ruby Patel, Dali Soni, Suman Sahu participated in the Kalash Yatra.
