Sagar: Life imprisonment to serial killer who murdered sleeping watchmen

Sagar, May 24 (HS). District Court Sagar has sentenced serial killer Shiv Prasad Dhurve alias (20) Halku, resident of Kainkra village, police station Kesli, tehsil Deori, Sagar (MP), who had become a synonym of terror among watchmen in Sagar about two years ago, to life imprisonment in the case of murder of watchman Shambhudayal Dubey, resident of Anand Nagar Makronia. The court of District Sessions Judge (Electricity Act) Prashant Kumar Saxena, accepting the arguments of the prosecution, has punished accused Halku with this punishment considering him a person of normal mental state.

During the trial, Judge Saxena has said at one place that a sleeping person is like a child who is incapable of protecting himself immediately. The court considered the mobile phone looted from the deceased as the most important evidence to punish the serial killer. The accused Halku Adivasi has been sentenced to life imprisonment with 10 years and 3 years imprisonment for murder and other charges. He will also have to pay a fine of Rs 10,000.

Sagar police had caught this serial killer from Bhopal. He had told that I was committing these murders to become famous. In the last week of August 2022, watchmen suddenly started getting murdered after midnight in Sagar city. The first case came to light of the murder of Kalyan, a watchman of a truck body builder factory on Bhainsa bypass. An unknown person killed Kalyan by throwing a stone on his head. After this, a person sleeping outside the Green Hotel at the railway station was also attacked. Luckily this person survived. The third incident came to light in the form of the murder of Shambhudayal in Arts and Commerce College. The fourth incident was committed by this serial killer on Motinagar Road and the fifth incident on Khajuria Road in Bhopal.

ADPO Saurabh Dimha, who was pleading on behalf of the prosecution, said that 25 people were made witnesses in this case. In which the mobile set of the deceased Shambhudayal played an important role as evidence. Actually, the murderer Halku had taken the mobile set of the tribal watchman Shambhudayal with him. With the help of that, the police reached the murderer in Bhopal. Blood particles of the deceased were also found on the mobile.
