Sagar: BJP candidate Dr. Lata Wankhede wins with 4,71,222 votes

Sagar, June 04 (HS). Sagar Lok Sabha constituency has got a new MP in the form of Dr. Lata Wankhede of Bharatiya Janata Party. In the counting of votes for Sagar Lok Sabha seat on Tuesday, she defeated her nearest rival Indian National Congress candidate Chandrabhushan Singh Bundela “Guddu Raja” by 4,71,222 votes.

The fate of 13 candidates contesting the Sagar Lok Sabha seat election was decided. After various rounds of counting, SUCI was leading. (Communist) candidate Dr. Ram Avatar Sharma got 928 votes, Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr. Lata Wankhede got 7,87,979 votes, Indian National Congress' Chandra Bhushan Singh Bundela “Guddu Raja” got 3,16,757 votes, Independent candidate Dharmendra Banpuria got 1,624 votes, Shri Ram Bhajan Bansal of Samata Party got 3,153 votes, Bharatiya Shakti Chetna Party's Suresh Bansal got 1,151 votes, Bahujan Samaj Party's Bhagwati Prasad Jatav got 16,636 votes, Independent Toshmani Panthi got 1,299 votes, Independent Rajkumar Ahirwar got 917 votes, Independent Sangram Singh Yadav got 2,824 votes, Pichda Samaj Party United's Laxmi Kushwaha got 952 votes, Independent Mohammad Arif Makrani got 2,888 votes and Mahanwadi Party's Bhikam Singh Kushwaha got 2,843 votes. 5,784 votes were received. 7,657 voters of Sagar parliamentary constituency pressed the NOTA button. A total of 11,42,892 valid votes recorded in EVMs were counted in the counting. Postal ballots are also included in the counting.

This morning, at the counting centre, the strong rooms were opened amidst tight security in the presence of observers appointed by the Election Commission of India, returning officers, candidates, agents of political parties. Thereafter, EVM machines were taken to the counting rooms with full security. First of all, counting of postal ballots was started. After that, counting of votes of EVM machines was started. Before counting of EVM votes, 3,088 postal ballots were counted. In which BJP's Lata Wankhende got 1819, Chandrabhushan Singh Guddu Raja got 668, Bhagwati Prasad Jatav got 44, Bhikam Singh Kushwaha got 6, Rambhajan Bansal got 4, Dr. Ramavatar Sharma got 4, Laxmi Kushwaha got 5, Suresh Bansal got 4, Rajkumar Ahirwar got 3, Toshmani Panthi got 6, Dhamendra Banpuriya got 3, Mohammad Arif Makrani got 0, Sangram Singh Yadav got 5 and NOTA got 16 postal votes. A total of 471 postal ballots were rejected as they were not valid.

The entire counting process was completed by more than 1600 officers and employees at the counting centre. Counting of votes was completed peacefully amid three-tier security arrangements at the Government Indira Gandhi Engineering College.

Sagar parliamentary constituency comprises 5 assembly constituencies Sagar, Surkhi, Khurai, Bina and Naryaavali and Vidisha's Siroj, Kurwai and Shamshabad are also included in it. While 3 assembly constituencies of Sagar district Deori, Rahli and Banda are included in Damoh parliamentary constituency. Counting of these three assembly constituencies also started at 8 am in Government Indira Gandhi Engineering College along with other assembly constituencies of Sagar district. All necessary arrangements and preparations were made to conduct the counting successfully.

Let us tell you that the counting of votes for the five assembly constituencies of Sagar district and three assembly constituencies of Sagar district of Damoh parliamentary constituency was done on three floors including the ground floor at the counting center located at the Government Indira Gandhi Engineering College in Sagar. While the counting of votes for Kurwai, Siroj and Shamshabad assembly constituencies was done at the counting center in Vidisha. There were strong arrangements for three-tier security at the counting place. Everyone was given entry only after the necessary entry pass and checking.

Similarly, all the officers, employees and counting agents engaged in the counting work were prohibited from carrying any kind of electronic device, electronic watch, mobile, key of electronic four wheeler and other items. 14 tables were set up in each room for counting of votes. Where counting of votes was done in different rounds. The final result was declared after counting of votes for all the eight assembly constituencies. Similarly, counting of votes was done for the remaining three assembly constituencies of Sagar district which come under Damoh Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency, i.e. Deori, Rahli, Banda assembly constituencies. The results of which were sent to the Damoh District Election Officer.

Returning Officer Arya gave the certificate

After the completion of vote counting and declaration of election results, Sagar Lok Sabha seat's returning officer Deepak Arya gave the certificate of election to the winning candidate of BJP, Dr. Lata Wankhede. During this, former minister and MLA Bhupendra Singh, MLA Shailendra Jain, Pradeep Laria, Nirmala Sapre, District Panchayat Chairman Hira Singh Rajput, Municipal Corporation Mayor Sangeeta Tiwari, Municipal Corporation Chairman Vrindavan Ahirwar, outgoing MP Raj Bahadur Singh, former minister Narayan Prasad Kabir Panthee, former MLA Arunoday Choubey and Parul Sahu and Vinod Kabir Panthee and Gaurav Sirothia along with other public representatives were present.
