Three students died due to waterlogging in the basement of a UPSC coaching centre in Delhi. After this incident, the Delhi Directorate of Education has now issued guidelines for safety. All these guidelines related to safety have been sent to the headmasters and principals of all government, government-recognized and private schools in Delhi. According to the guidelines, all schools will be allowed to carry out only those activities in the basement for which they have been permitted and which have been permitted as per the master plan and the map passed for the building.

It also states that all gates of the school building must be functional, i.e., no gate should be out of order. Also, all entry, exit and access routes to the basement of the school must be properly marked in the school evacuation plan.
