Various organizations including local people and all political parties had called for a bandh on Tuesday in protest against the beating of a social worker at Safale railway station in Palghar district for protesting molestation. Traders also joined in and supported the bandh, due to which shops and other business establishments remained closed from morning till 5 pm. During this time, hardly any vehicles were seen on the roads. However, essential services continued during the bandh.

The bandh was conducted peacefully without any untoward incident. In view of the bandh, strict security arrangements were made by the local police and railway police. Let us tell you that when the 26-year-old social worker returned from Boisar on the evening of August 1 and went to pick up her car parked in the parking area of ​​Safale railway station, one of the accused started making obscene gestures and molesting her. When the social worker protested against the molestation, the monsters attacked her and tore her clothes after beating her.

After receiving the complaint, GRP registered a case against three accused including Safale resident Islam Mumtaz Sheikh and Arif Sheikh and arrested them. After the incident, Hindu organizations also got angry. And strict action was demanded in the case.
