Hong Kong, 4 November (Hong Kong). Diana Schneider won the WTA Hong Kong Open title on Sunday by defeating British player Katie Boulter 6-1, 6-2.
Top-seeded Schnyder, ranked 14th in the world, won his fourth title of the season with wins at the Bad Homburg Open in Germany, Hua Hin Championships in Thailand and the Budapest Grand Prix in Hungary.
After the title win, the 20-year-old Russian player said, “I feel like I was at a high level. Of course, I am happy and proud with the way I am competing.”
Boulter, seeded second and seeking her third title of the season, said of the tough match, “I wanted to give my best. But it was not enough.”
