MOSCOW: Russia’s Chief of General Staff Veleti Gerasimov, saying Russia wants to strengthen ties with India along with many other countries after losing confidence in the West, has directly accused the US of escalating global conflicts and freezing the world. It has been accused of pushing into an era of war. In such a situation, it has become almost impossible for Russia to trust the West at all.
He further said that due to the double standards of the West, the arms control treaty is now becoming meaningless. There is very little trust between the West and Russia.
Russia and America are currently the most powerful nuclear powers in the world. Together they have more than 80 percent of the world’s nuclear arsenal. Nuclear arms control treaties were signed twice (the second time with amendments), in 1987 and 1972. The Russian general said, but the West is not following it properly and is adopting double standards. He further said that overall gun control is now becoming a thing of the past. Because it cannot be implemented due to the double standards of the West.
General Gerasimov further said that Russia has chosen to rely more on China, India, Iran, North Korea and Venezuela rather than relying on the West. Want to strengthen relations with India.
He further said, ‘Without trust, mutual control is equally impossible. Still he said. His statements were quoted by the Defense Ministry of Russia.
On the other hand, America describes Russia and China as the biggest threats to the West. They accused Russia of violating both the 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty and the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty. Ultimately in 2019 the US withdrew from the 2019 INF Treaty. Holding Russia responsible for this, he said that since it has violated those treaties, we are withdrawing from that treaty. USAVM also withdrew from the treaty in 2002.
President Putin has withdrawn Russia from the New START treaty in 2023. The reason for this was the support given by America to Ukraine. Thus both the countries are becoming completely isolated from each other.
