The family of one of the victims is from Hyderabad. The family contacted AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi. In this regard, on January 25, Owaisi had written a letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and the Indian Embassy in Moscow, seeking government intervention for their return, while the remaining victims are from Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. However, the names of the victims have not been disclosed in the report.
Training given by Russian Army
A victim from UP said that three of them were given initial training in handling arms and ammunition by the Russian Army. The victim told that he reached here in November-2023. He was clearly told that he would not be sent to the battlefield. He was promised a salary of Rs 1.95 lakh and a bonus of Rs 50 thousand per month. However, he did not receive any money except a bonus of Rs 50,000 for two months.
Neither the system listened, nor anyone
The victim told that he could not use the phone for several days. After escaping from the war zone he managed to contact his family. He said that repeated appeals were made to the Indian Embassy in Moscow but they did not listen. He neither has any documents nor money. The government is not helping them and their lives are in danger.
Foreign Ministry refused to say anything
At present the Foreign Ministry has refused to comment on this issue. According to sources, the Indian Embassy is also keeping an eye on such complaints. Some of those claiming forced labor at the border do not want to leave the country. Whereas some people do not want to go back without earning some money.
