MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in a televised speech earlier this year that Russia has developed a cancer vaccine and will provide it free to treat patients from next year, Russian news agency Tass said. Andrey Kaprin, general director of the Russian Health Ministry’s Radiology Medical Research Center, told Radio Russia that Russia has developed its own cancer mRNA vaccine, which will be distributed to patients for free.

Russian President Putin said in a televised speech earlier this year that we are close to developing a new generation of immunomodulatory drugs, that is, a new cancer vaccine. Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, said the vaccine is currently in pre-clinical testing. This vaccine can prevent the growth of cancer tumors. At present, the name of the vaccine or any other information has not been revealed. According to Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, 6,35,000 cancer cases were reported in Russia in 2022. Colon, breast and lung cancer have become common in Russia. Cancer vaccines play an important role in enhancing the immune system’s ability to recognize and attack cancer cells.

Tens of thousands of other people around the world are also trying to develop a cancer vaccine. In May, researchers at the University of Florida developed an aggressive treatment for four patients with glioblastoma, a brain cancer that has killed two people. Scientists in the UK are also developing a personalized vaccine for a skin cancer called melanoma. Taking this vaccine increases your chances of avoiding deadly skin cancer. A personalized cancer vaccine is designed to take RNA from a patient’s own cancer tumor to teach it to recognize and target specific proteins.
