Russian President Vladimir Putin praised his army for this achievement and described this victory as very important. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Soigu informed President Putin about this.

The battle for the capture of Avdiivka was one of the most dangerous battles of the Russo-Ukraine War.

The Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement saying that Avdiivka was a strong defense base for the Ukrainian military and that a Russian capture of Avdiivka would seriously impact Ukraine's ability to attack Russia. The head of the Ukrainian army issued a statement on Saturday confirming the Russian capture of Evdivka. “I have decided to withdraw my troops in order to save as many lives as possible,” Ukrainian army chief Oleksandr Syrsky said. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also said that the decision to withdraw was taken to save the lives of the soldiers. Zelensky blamed lack of weapons for the defeat. He said that unfortunately Ukraine is suffering from shortage of weapons. In particular, long-range weapons and missiles are in short supply. Due to which Russia intensified the attacks.

Avdiivka is less than 10 kilometers from the Russian-occupied Ukrainian city of Donetsk. The battle of Avdiivka is also being compared to the battle of Bakhmut, in which more than 10 thousand soldiers were killed. According to media reports, the population of Avdiivka was around 34 thousand, who fled after the war started. About one thousand people still live here. Much of the city has been destroyed due to the war.
