Ukrainian President Zelensky said in a statement that Russia launched a massive air strike against Ukraine on Friday with 93 cruise and ballistic missiles and about 200 drones.
He said the attack was one of the worst air strikes against the country’s energy facilities since the Russian invasion began nearly three years ago. Ukraine’s defense system shot down 81 missiles, including 11 cruise missiles.
The missiles were intercepted earlier this year by F-16 fighter jets provided by the West.
Zelensky said on his channel on Telegram that Russia is terrorizing millions of people. He once again appealed to the Western countries to unite against Russian President Putin.
Zelensky said that a strong reaction from the world, a fierce attack is needed. This is the only way to stop terrorism.
On the other hand, Russia’s Defense Ministry in Moscow has said that the Russian military used long-range precision-guided missiles and drones against key fuel and energy facilities in Ukraine.
The ministry said the attack was in response to Ukraine’s attack on the Russian Air Force on Wednesday using a US-supplied Army tactical missile system.
