Chennai, March 02 (HS). Calicut Heroes have made their triumphant return in the third season of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League powered by A23. Calicut Heroes team defeated Hyderabad Black Hawks in straight sets 15-13, 18-16, 16-14 in the match played at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium here on Saturday. Chirag Yadav was awarded the Player of the Match award for his excellent play.
As soon as the match started, Sahil Kumar got off to a great start, justifying his selection in the starting line-up for Hyderabad Black Hawks, but Jerome Vineeth's aggressive play helped Calicut find the rhythm. After this, Mohan Ukrapandian's pass made it easier for Vikas Mann to attack from the middle. However, the strong block of Stefan Kovacevic, Sahil and Prince continued the excellent game for Hyderabad. Meanwhile, Chirag Yadav's aggressive play put Calicut Heroes ahead in the match.
On the other hand, as soon as Stephen started giving Hyderabad the lead. Calicut's Vikas continued to take points for his team. Sahil's aggressive play from Zone-4 and some mistakes by Calicut brought Hyderabad Black Hawks back into the contest. But some crucial blocks from Daniel Motazedi and Chirag's consistent attacking play helped Calicut take control of the match.
Despite being pushed on the back foot in the match, Hyderabad Black Hawks' defense responded strongly to the opposition's attacks and the team remained in the contest. It was finding it very difficult for Calicut Heroes to deal with Sahil's attack. During this time, due to Hemant's continuous attacking play, the match started shifting towards Hyderabad but two big blocks from Ukra and Chirag made a comeback for Calicut Heroes and the team won in straight sets.
