Misinformation spread after the death of a sadhu popularly known as ‘Farsa Wale Baba’ in Kosikalan area of ​​the district enraged the crowd. During this, angry people targeted an innocent truck driver, who died during treatment. Taking the situation under control, the police have so far arrested 13 rioters and heavy police force has been deployed in the area.

Sadhu’s natural death and rumor game According to police investigation, ‘Farsa Wale Baba’, who had been living in the area for a long time, died due to natural causes. But some mischievous elements spread the rumor through social media and verbally that Baba had been murdered. As soon as this news spread, local people took to the streets and started protesting. The rumor added fuel to the fire and the peaceful protest soon turned into stone pelting and arson.

Innocent truck driver becomes victim of mob violence During the violence, a truck driver passing by was stopped by the mob. Angered by the rumour, the miscreants attacked the driver and beat him brutally. The seriously injured driver was immediately taken to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. This incident has given sleepless nights to the administration. Police are now searching for the main accused who instigated the mob and directly attacked the driver.

Big action by police: 13 rioters behind bars Mathura Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) said that the rioters are being identified on the basis of CCTV footage and video evidence. So far 13 people have been arrested and sent to jail. The police have made it clear that no culprit will be spared, whether he is spreading rumors or involved in violence. The entire Kosikalan area has been converted into a cantonment and PAC companies have also been deployed so that no untoward incident happens again.
