Araria, 13 April (HS). The family alleges that the son was born as a newborn baby, which was not only mentioned on the discharge paper from the hospital. In fact, the on-duty GNM in-charge Pallavi Kumari, who was engaged in the delivery work, along with Milan Kumari and Aarti Kumari, forcibly took one thousand rupees as a gratification. The family members came to know about the newborn baby being given a daughter instead of a son, when the family wrapped the newborn baby in a cloth and took it home. Where instead of a son, the newborn baby was seen to be a daughter and then from Kursakanta he took the newborn baby to the sub-divisional hospital and created a ruckus over the matter.
However, the hospital management termed it a human error and clarified that a son was mentioned instead of a daughter in the discharge papers. Umesh Singh, resident of Kursakanta Pagdera Nuniyari ward number 13, said that he got married in 2018 and has a daughter as his first child. After his wife Kiran Devi started moaning due to labor pain late at night, he along with Asha Pratima Devi reached Forbesganj Sub-Divisional Hospital from Kursakanta early in the morning. Shortly after being admitted to the delivery room, the GNM on duty informed Asha Pratima Devi about the birth of a son and demanded Rs 1,000 as a gratification. After which Asha informed the family about the birth of a son. Information given.
Umesh Singh said that when he was given Rs 500 as a gratification, he refused to take GNM and forcibly collected Rs 1000 from it. He told that after BCG vaccination, it was wrapped in a cloth and given to the newborn along with the discharge slip. The discharge slip also showed the sex of the newborn as son. When the family reached home with the newborn baby and his mother, they removed the clothes and found a daughter instead of a son. After which they reached the hospital. But the hospital management termed it a human mistake and said that instead of a girl, they would write a boy. Due to which the family members started creating ruckus. After which information was given to Dial 112 and then police officer Sujit Kumar from Dial 112 reached the spot along with police forces and took information about the matter.
Despite the hospital management calling it a human error, the family is adamant on the birth of a son. Pallavi Kumari, Milan Kumari and Aarti Kumari have been accused of extorting one thousand rupees as Khushnuma.
Regarding the matter, the in-charge of the delivery home, GNM Pallavi Kumari, completely rejected the allegation of discharging the mother and newborn by taking money. He told that two patients were discharged at the same time at 10 o'clock on Saturday. One of them was Pooja Singh of Rampur and the other was Kiran Devi of Kursakanta. Pooja Kumari's delivery took place at 4 am and Kiran Devi's delivery took place at 4.30 am. He said that the newborn son was mentioned by mistake on the discharge slip. On this matter, Deputy Superintendent in-charge of Sub-Divisional Hospital, Dr. KN Singh also said that there was a mistake in the discharge slip due to human error. Said to investigate the issue of money recovery after delivery.
