A very relieving and encouraging news has emerged for lakhs of youth preparing for government jobs in Indian Railways. Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has officially announced the dates of the much awaited Junior Engineer i.e. RRB JE (RRB JE Exam 2026) recruitment exam. The wait of the candidates who have been waiting for their examinations for a long time is about to end, because according to the new schedule announced by the Commission, these examinations will be conducted in the month of October this year. There is huge enthusiasm among the youth across the country regarding this Computer Based Examination (CBT) to be conducted for selection to the posts of Junior Engineer, Depot Material Superintendent and Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant in various technical departments of Railways. With the announcement of the exam dates by the board, candidates have intensified their preparations so that they can secure a seat in this prestigious government job and give a new direction to their career.
According to the official timetable released by the Railway Recruitment Board, the first phase Computer Based Online Examination (CBT-1) for Junior Engineer (RRB JE) posts is likely to start from the second week of October. Just a few days before the successful conduct of the examination, the board will release the application status and exam city slip for the candidates on its official websites, so that the students can know in which city and in which shift their exam center has come. Along with this, official admit cards will also be made available for download just four days before the examination, which will contain the complete address of the examination centre, roll number and shift timings. Candidates are advised to frequently visit the regional RRB websites so as to complete all their formalities on time without missing any important updates or last minute changes.
It is very important for every candidate to understand the structure of the first stage of RRB JE recruitment process i.e. CBT-1 so that they can perform well in the examination. A total of 100 multiple choice questions (MCQs) are asked in this preliminary examination, to solve which candidates get 90 minutes i.e. one and a half hour. This test consists of questions from Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and General Science, and negative marking of one third (1/3) marks is also deducted. Candidates who successfully clear this hurdle of CBT-1 will be shortlisted for the main examination i.e. CBT-2, in which detailed questions related to technical subjects are asked. After this, after completion of the process of document verification and medical examination, the finally successful candidates are selected for the post of Junior Engineer in various zones of Railways.
To maintain transparency and discipline in the Railway Recruitment Board examinations, very strict rules are implemented, following which it is mandatory for every candidate. To gain entry into the examination hall, candidates will be required to bring with them the printed copy of the e-admit card issued by RRB and a valid original photo identity card (like Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID or Driving License). Apart from this, one must also carry a recent color passport size photograph as per the instructions given in the admit card so that one does not face any inconvenience during biometric verification. There will be a complete ban on carrying any kind of electronic device, calculator, mobile phone or smartwatch inside the examination centre, and any candidate violating the rules may be immediately disqualified from the examination.
There is not much time left for this big exam to be held in October, so candidates will have to make their strategy smart and accurate. Instead of studying new topics in the remaining days, solving previous year’s question papers and giving mock tests regularly proves to be the most effective method. Identifying your weaknesses, working on them and practicing time management is the biggest key to success. In this final stage, taking care of your health by staying away from any kind of mental anxiety is as important as studies. This golden opportunity to make a career in Railways is a great gift for all those youth who have waited for this day for years, and the students who appear in the examination with full dedication and hard work will definitely taste success.
