Team India recently faced a crushing defeat of 0-3 in the Test series against New Zealand. Now the Indian cricket team is on Australia tour for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In this tour, the Indian team has to play five test matches against host Australia. This Test series is also very important for India to reach the final of the World Test Championship (WTC).

The first match of the Test series between the two teams will be played at Optus Stadium in Perth from 22 November (Friday). However, before this match, the Indian team has suffered a big setback. Captain Rohit Sharma is out of this match. Rohit has become a father for the second time and wants to stay with the family for a few days. However, Rohit will join the team before the Adelaide Test or during the Perth Test.

Now in the absence of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah will take charge of the Indian team in the Perth Test.

Apart from Rohit, Shubman Gill may also be out of Perth Test. Shubman Gill injured his left thumb while taking a catch at second slip in the practice match. After the injury, he appeared to be in a lot of pain and immediately left the field for a scan. The second Test will start in Adelaide from 6 December. Hopefully Shubman will be fit in time for that match.
