Amidst the ever-increasing geopolitical instability, economic uncertainties and rapidly changing technological landscape at the global level, the Government of India has taken a major and decisive initiative to accelerate its long-term goal of making the country a fully developed nation by the year 2047. The Central Government has now started final preparations to give a new and practical dimension to the comprehensive road map of ‘Developed India 2047’. Under this far-reaching strategy, a high-level two-day ‘Chintan Shivir’ of the Council of Ministers is being organized on Wednesday, 23 September and Thursday, 24 September 2047. In this special camp, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highly sensitive topics like the country’s future economic development, social security, industrial self-reliance and employment generation will be discussed.
Two-day brainstorming meeting of the Council of Ministers: 8 to 10 major presentations and clear instructions to ministries
About eight to ten high-level presentations will be given by various ministries and departments in this two-day thinking camp to be organized in the capital New Delhi. According to sources, the main objective of the meeting is not just to review the old schemes, but to ensure that all the ministries speed up the implementation of their policy decisions. The direction of development is being decided in such a way that it is not only long-term and permanent, but also the common citizens of the country can directly get its immediate economic benefits. It is the government’s effort to keep the country at the forefront of global competition by making necessary changes in policies with time.
Facing dual challenges: Special focus on global supply chain and domestic employment
At present, big and complex challenges are facing the government policy makers on two different fronts. The first challenge is completely global in nature, which includes disruption of international supply chains, fluctuations in the manufacturing sector, import-export equations and strategic questions related to self-reliance. On the other hand, at the domestic level, serious socio-economic and political issues like employment generation, skill development and social security remain on priority. In this brainstorming camp, extensive discussions will be held keeping all these topics at the center, so that new and huge employment opportunities can be created within the country while keeping the Indian economy safe from global shocks.
Report of ten groups of secretaries and emphasis on ‘Ease of Living’
In the year 2021, 10 different groups of secretaries were formed by the government for different major sectors of the country. These groups have prepared a blue-print of development after detailed discussions with various industrialists, experts and stakeholders. During this thinking camp, there will be an in-depth discussion on the presentations of all those groups and in the end, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the entire Group of Ministers and present a clear vision of the future to the country. The main focus of the government will be on ‘Ease of Living’ as well as on complete abolition of old and complex legal provisions which are becoming obstacles in the way of industry and business.
Promotion of self-reliance and skill development in manufacturing
To make India a global manufacturing hub, several major and structural reforms are likely to be undertaken to achieve self-reliance at every level of the supply chain. Special priority will be given to those industries and sectors which have the potential to generate employment on a large scale in the country. Along with this, ‘skill development’ is one of the top priorities of the government, and during the camp, the progress of the schemes to train the youth in the technologies of the future will also be reviewed. It is believed that Prime Minister Modi will direct the ministers and secretaries to further strengthen mutual communication and coordination, so that this mega campaign of developed India can be successfully completed within the stipulated time frame.
