Road blocked in protest against molestation and robbery of a girl | News India

Dhanbad, 22 August (HS). A young woman who returned to Dhanbad from Kolkata was molested late on Wednesday night by a person who was released on bail in a case under POCSO Act and robbery. In protest against this, the family of the girl and the local people blocked the road today and demanded the arrest of the accused. The incident is being reported from Karkend in Dhanbad.

According to the information, Manoj Agarwal's 23-year-old daughter, a resident of Karkand Bazar in Putki police station area, who studies in Kolkata, returned to Dhanbad at around 2 o'clock late night. After this, she reached Karkand Bazar by auto and started walking towards her house. Meanwhile, Ramesh Paswan (42), a resident of Loyabad, found the girl alone and approached her and started molesting her and forcibly taking her towards a deserted street.

The victim said that during this time she pleaded with the accused to let her go. After this, he started demanding money. During this, he also snatched her mobile phone. The victim said that after this, she somehow called one of her acquaintances and sent five hundred rupees to the accused's mobile phone through net banking. Even after that, the accused kept trying to drag the victim towards the dark corner of the street. After this, when the people around reached the spot after hearing the victim's screams, the accused left the victim and fled from the spot.

The victim's family said that even after filing a written complaint about the incident, the police has not taken any action in this case till now. Due to which angry local people have blocked the road and are demanding the arrest of the accused. The people removed the road blockade after the police reached the spot and assured them of taking action in the case.
