Dehradun/Rishikesh, 25 November (HS). Late night near Natraj Chowk under Rishikesh police station in Uttarakhand, an uncontrolled truck crushed several vehicles parked outside the wedding point. Three people, including state agitator and former president of Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) Trivendra Singh Panwar, died in the accident. Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami has expressed deep condolences on the demise of Trivendra Panwar.
It has been told that Uttarakhand Kranti Dal leader Trivendra Singh Panwar (71), Majri Laltappad resident Gurjit Singh (36) and Jatin son Pawan Singh age (23) had come to Rithala Rohini Sector Delhi to attend a marriage program. Meanwhile, an uncontrolled truck loaded with cement blocks passed by and hit more than five vehicles parked outside the wedding point and crushed Trivendra Singh Panwar, Gurjit Singh and Jatin.
The accident was so severe that pieces of vehicles spread far and wide. There was an atmosphere of chaos near the incident site for hours. On receiving the information, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rishikesh Sandeep Negi reached the spot with police personnel. Police sent all three, including Panwar, to the hospital, where doctors declared Chhotarwala Gurjeet dead, while Trivendra Singh Panwar was referred to Rishikesh AIIMS, where he died. Jatin also died during treatment at AIIMS hospital this morning.
Rishikesh Kotwali in-charge Inspector RS Kholia said that the truck has been taken into custody. The truck driver absconded after the incident and has been arrested by the police.
