Abhedya Kavacham (Impermeable Shield) while the motto Nidhivaad Abheda M Balsheel, both reflect India’s commitment to protect its maritime borders.

This warship is of the Russian Krivak-3 type which has been purchased under Project 11356. Project 11356 is the code name for the Sword-type battleships. India has so far acquired six warships from Russia between 1999 and 2013. Which has also started. In addition to these ships, 3 Sword-type frigates are being built at Saint Pierre Bergé. In addition, the Teg-class frigates are being built at the shipyard in Kalinin Grad, Russia.

INS Tushil is the 7th warship of that series. India is getting these warships under the agreement with Russia for modern warships. The contract was signed with the Indian Navy and Russia’s JSC Rosoboronexport in October 2016.
