New Delhi, 26 November (HS). After joining Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega-auction, Rishabh Pant penned an emotional farewell note for his former team Delhi Capitals. Pant has become the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was bought by the Lucknow-based franchise for Rs 27 crore during the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction.
In 111 matches for Delhi, Pant scored 3,284 runs at an average of 148.93, including one century and 17 fifties. His best score is 128*. He is the highest run-scorer of the franchise. Under his captaincy, the Delhi team reached the playoffs in 2021, but could not progress beyond the league stages in 2022 and 2024.
“Saying goodbye is never easy,” Pant posted on his official social media handle.
Pant wrote, “Goodbyes are never easy. My journey with Delhi Capitals has been nothing less than an amazing experience. From the adventures on the field to the moments off the field, I have grown in ways I never imagined. “I came here as a teenager and grew up together over the last nine years.”
He said that the fans have made his journey with Delhi Capitals meaningful.
He said, “It is you fans who make this journey worthwhile. You hugged me, encouraged me and stood by me during the toughest times of my life.”
The wicketkeeper-batsman said that he would look forward to entertaining the fans whenever he takes the field.
He further added, “As I move forward, I keep your love and support in my heart. I look forward to entertaining you whenever I take the field. Thank you for being my family and making this journey so special.”
After Pant, Shreyas Iyer became the second most expensive player in the auction. Iyer was bought by Punjab for Rs 26.75 crore.
