Prayagraj, 22 October (Hindustan Reporter). The Allahabad High Court has directed the State Government and other departments including the State Bridge Construction Corporation to file a detailed counter affidavit on the allegations made in the petition regarding reducing the approved length of the Ashapur Over Bridge in Varanasi.
The court wanted to know that when the approved length of the flyover was 682.63 meters, then why was it made 643.10 meters. The next hearing of the petition will be on November 27.
This order has been given by the division bench of Chief Justice Arun Bhansali and Justice Vikas Wednesday while hearing the PIL filed by the manager of Prithvi Foundation.
The petition has alleged widespread corruption in the construction of four lanes and flyovers. If the allegations made in the petition were not answered in the government affidavit, then the court has directed to file a detailed and better counter affidavit. The petitioner says that reducing the length of the flyover by 41 meters is causing accidents due to the slope. The flyover is being built by the State Bridge Corporation. Earlier, an assistant engineer has also been suspended on corruption charges.
