Franchise co-owner Parth Jindal confirmed that he wanted to appoint an Indian coach to identify and nurture local talent, for which Ponting was not available. After parting ways with Delhi, there was speculation about Ponting getting a place in the England team but now he has made it clear that he actually has no intention of doing so.
Ponting is all set to return to IPL
Meanwhile, Ponting has expressed his desire to return to the IPL in 2025. Many franchises are looking for new coaches and Ponting can fit into their system. He was with the Mumbai Indians team before joining the Capitals. Ponting said in the ICC review episode, “I would love to coach in the IPL again. I have had a great time here, whether it was my early days as a player or a few years spent as head coach in Mumbai.” And then I spent seven seasons in Delhi, which unfortunately did not work out, I think there was an attempt to bring something good to my move to the team and it did not happen.
